German Infantry Officer sword (IOD) without blade etching / with locking hinge

Old style infantry officer's sword / IOD a.A. This model has been in use since the 18th century in slightly different versions.

These swords were worn by infantry officers and civil servants.

From November 14, 1881, the inner guard plate was furnished with a flip-up hinge.


     Blade: Forged from stainless steel, 76 cm long, approx. 18 mm wide, 5 mm thick. Hand sanded and polished. Unsharpened parade version with tip. The blade can also be ordered with a rounded tip.

     Fittings: Cast from brass, hand-set, polished, nickel-plated and 24-carat gold-plated. Withfolding hinge.

     Handle: plastic, wrapped with silver-plated, finely twisted brass wire.

     Screw: brass, 24 carat hard gold plated.

     Sheath: Flexible PU tube, covered with black cowhide. Ribbing on both sides, 2 gold-plated brass fittings with hooks for carrying device.

     Accessories: cloth pouch with drawstring, WKC certificate of authenticity
